Memories Of Stone Faces

DI VISI DI PIETRA MEMORIE

Switzerland, 2022, 9'

FREE ENTRY

The film develops a poetic reflection on the themes of water exploitation and rock mining in the Swiss Alps. Juxtaposing contemporary images with archival footage in a narrative whole where documentary elements and invention coexist, the film invites its audience to deal with the geological and human memories that shape and haunt present-day extraction environments. Following matter flows and transformations, and through interweaving human and non-human elements, we are elicited to finding a sensory approach to the current environmental crisis. A poetic reflection on the layers of the world’s memory, whether human or material, which plunges us viscerally inside the big contradiction underlying climate change, i.e., our incapacity to listen to the suffering of the earth.
